GL Education, the provider of assessments, tests and services to support student and school improvement, is The Assignment Report’s Education Company of the Year 2012. At a time of challenging market conditions GL Education has continued to invest in product development and deliver year-on-year growth, ensuring the company is well placed to support the drive for more personalised learning in UK schools. In September 2012 GL Education launched CAT4 - the fourth edition of its Cognitive Abilities Test, which is used by around 50% of UK secondary schools to determine a student’s learning strengths and weaknesses. And in the three years to 31 December 2011 GL Education saw operating EBITDA almost double to £6.9m on revenue up 30% to £20.1m. Growth continued in 2012 with GL Education forecasting an EBITDA of around £8.4m on revenue up 9% to £22m. The company was acquired in March 2012 from Veronis Suhler Stevenson by Investcorp at an enterprise valuation of £67m.
