Education market remains challenging for TUI Travel

TUI Travel’s education related businesses continued to be impacted by a reduction in party sizes and demand for gap year travel due to the downturn in the UK economy and rise in university fees, according to the company’s preliminary results for the year ended 30 September 2012.

In March 2013. TUI announced the closure of its "unviable" UK-based EAC brand of junior English language centres. Five of EAC's 13 summer operations will continue to operate under the ELC brand, TUI's adult ELT business.
