FE college’s student centre wins Queen’s Award for Enterprise

publication date: May 1, 2008
author/source: Ed Tranham

Hammersmith & West London College’s International Student Centre has won a Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade for its ‘innovative approach to marketing education abroad’. In the past three years the number of international students enrolling at the College has grown from 450 to 2,000, with overseas students paying £4.5m in fees, making the College the UK’s largest FE recruiter of overseas students.

One of the Centre's marketing techniques is partnership working with key overseas commercial contacts. Within the UK, the College works alongside employers including the Hilton, the Ritz and the Savoy, to create programmes in which employability features strongly in the students' learning experience.

The Centre is the first ever FE unit to win the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade.
