KKR closes Northgate deal

Private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) has formally closed the deal to acquire 100% of the shares of Northgate Information Solutions. The deal was valued at £593m.

Northgate currently has BSF contracts as the ICT partner with Kent (£31m over five years), Leicester (£27m over five years) and Bristol (£9m over five years).

KKR is also an investor in Laureate Education Inc, one of the leading providers of post-secondary education with 240,000 registered students worldwide, a business that was valued at $3.82bn in June 2007.

Laureate’s programmes are delivered via campus and online. In the UK, Laureate is the eLearning partner of the University of Liverpool, specializing in the delivery of online graduate programmes to working professionals in more than 95 countries.
