Mouchel acquires Hedra

publication date: Mar 31, 2008
author/source: Ed Tranham

Mouchel Group has acquired Hedra, a privately owned UK public sector consultancy firm, for £50m. The deal more than doubles the size of Mouchel’s management consultancy business with 500 staff. The enlarged management consulting business will be led by Hedra chief executive Mark Campbell, who will join the Mouchel Group Management Board.

Mouchel has a number of education contracts including project management of the National Healthy Schools Programme in England and has delivered several academy projects under the DCSF Academies Project Management and Education Services Framework.

Hedra has also undertaken projects within the education sector and partners CfBT in the National Programme for Gifted and Talented Education.

It will be interesting to see whether a separate education business evolves from the merged consulting businesses.

In the first half year to 31 January 2008, revenues at Mouchel were up 49% to £308m. 38% of these revenues were derived from the company’s Government and Business Services division which includes education.
